July 2008

Oh, well – this – is just fucking peachy. Apparently the kitten got out at five o’clock in the morning when ma was leaving for work, and Nick & Ma weren’t able to find ‘em.  I stuck the box out there that she likes, perhaps she’ll wander back at night but I’m doubtful. I – told – ma not to fucking pick her up every thirty seconds, scares her, and fifteen bucks says that’s probably how the cat got so close to the door to escape, since she likes her box to sleep in at night and it ain’t anywhere – near – the damn front door.

That’s it, the air freshener’s gotta go. I’m having a slight problem, been sneezing, draining sinuses and bits of headache for several days now and it’s either the air freshener or the cat, since those’re the only 2 new things. I’ve yet to be allergic to a cat and I don’t see the likelihood of a single kitty causing such a reaction, ergo it’s the ‘air freshener’. Never liked those things. Ma picked it out, s’a plug in one and she shoved it in the bathroom and stated that it’s ’staying there’. We’ll see about that. I’ll take the fucking thing apart and fill it with colored water before she gets home t’morrow, solve that problem. She doesn’t even come upstairs, why the fuck would she want to shove a freshener up here?! If it was making her sinuses drain and sneeze and caused her headaches, it would’ve been out the damn door within a meager handful of hours, but since it’s someone else she doesn’t give a fuck. S’not exactly making me charitable.

I don’t have the various Alice links compiled yet, but I did want to drop in and say that we’ve picked up a kitten that an antique store dealer had. She’s horribly shy, and seems to like me best, which is odd because animals normally don’t care about me one way or the other. Most, from reptiles to horses, seem to consider me about as interesting as a plastic plant.  One horse considered my watch dinner and studiously ignored my yanking away of the wrist said watch was attached too. Good enough to sniff and acknowledge my existence, then they ignore me in favor of others. Anyway, new kitten’s a mix of grey and, if you can believe it, peachish color, so light you have to look very close to see the patches. S’pretty coloring, but, horribly shy like I said, trying to get her used to us.

I found these awesome hanging crystals in clear, blue and yellow at the dollar store. Picked one up last week, and another three today. M’afraid I’ll go back tomorrow for another three or four, they’re that pretty. I made a pendant out of one (s’about two inches long, and yellow, and it’s cot the prettiest shape, all curliques and whatnot) and I’d like to string it from a heavy chain interspersed with some yellow glass beads, but I need another pair of wire cutters among other things, not sure how I’d do this particular bit. Going to need much contemplation, yes. I’ve also started an absolutely -gigantic- picture of Alice in Tiennel’s style, (though not a picture he’s done, just using the character for a bit of a different scene. And updating the shoes, they’re not as ‘boxy’ as I’d like. Think I might add a hair band with a cat on it, too, not sure on small details yet. Might also modify the apron…  All I know for sure is that I like to keep the facial and hair structure as it’s best suited for the bold style it’d need to be to be visible on a mirror without needing many colors, since I only plan to use black. ;/ (one day soon I’ll gather various links to other galleries of Alice art, you’d be surprised how popular she is. And the best part, they’re not all blond and blue-eyed =D! I think I’ll do it tomorrow, actually. There’s some beautiful work out there. It wouldn’t go for less than one twenty at an arts fair, but also considering I’m not at a fair, it’ll prolly squeak by between sixty and eighty.  Anyway, part of the reason for the price (because I’m normally not that expensive. Some things go for free, but shhhhhhh, don’t tell anyone)  is that it’s on a goodly-sized mirror. An older fashioned one, at that, wooden frame with a bit of design at the top, sort of like you’d find over a Victorian front door. There’s a bed frame, queen size I think, that goes with it but there’s no room for me to take it out and make a matched set on the headboard, although I’ve Plans, oh yes. Can’t draw on mirrors, unfortunately, as there’s no grain, so I had to fill in the mirror with paper, tape it, currently drawing the picture on it and then hanging it and shoving the mirror next to it for the reflection so I can fill it in with enameled color. Definitely a chore, this having to use a reflection, but I haven’t painted on a mirror before so it’ll be interesting. I have painting on quite a bit of glass (some glass does have a ‘grain’, in a manner of speaking, but sketching on that, I suspect, is less of a pain that this will be).  I suppose I could just paint it directly from the picture instead of using the reflection, but it would almost triple the time because enamel’s a pain in the ass to get off a surface while painting steadily, and when I do a picture from a picture the pencil or brush tends to hover while I take a few seconds and judge line distances. Perfect time for enamel to drip from the brush, blast gravity, as I found out the hard way one day, so much easier to use the reflection for a mirror, I think. Now, solid colored plates with no ‘grain’, it also takes forever. (forever being about three and a half to five hours for the plates I normally do, which are about six inches by six inches, though with those they’re generally reproductions of Tenniel’s work as it’s public domain, and well, rather popular, but painting on solid colors, generally not worth it unless the glass it pretty damn spectacular, like that one I found at the grocery store, was blue and had swirls, looked like it was tie-dyed. O-ho! And one of my sisters has an internet camera, or whatever she calls it, so when the mirror’s done in a few days I’ll take pictures and post it for your viewing pleasure.

I have a job interview for t’morrow at the hospital for housekeeping.  I think I’m in a bit of a shock. They have a comprehensive healthcare plan, too, hope I don’t fuck up the interview >.<  Hello, stress headache ;/ But an interview! =D Ugh, can feel the pressure growing. On the upside, I’ve got a ride. Hmmmz. Lord I hope I filled out the application correctly, the print was so damn small, hate it when I put things on the wrong lines.
